Nyssa High School Families: As part of our homecoming activities this week, we will be having a homecoming parade tomorrow October 22 from 11:40 to 12:06.  The parade will leave the high school and go down Adrian and Main street and then return to the high school on Good Avenue.  We welcome anyone who would like to watch and cheer on our NHS students.   Las familias de Nyssa High School: Como parte de las actividades de homecoming, tendremos un desfile mañana el 22 de octubre de 11:40 a 12:06.  El desfile saldrá del high school y va por las calles de Adrian and Main Street y regresa a la escuela por la Avenida Good.  Todos los que quieren mirar y apoyar a nuestros estudiantes están invitados.  

NHS Fans:  We appreciate all those who attend our sporting events.  We need your help with ensuring that as a group we show good sportsmanship at all home and away competitions.  Please be encouraging not negative, fair not foul, and supportive not harassing so that everyone can continue to enjoy athletics.  It is important that we support the officials even when we don't agree and are always positive role models for our youth.  Those who can not maintain sportsmanlike conduct may be required to leave or be banned from future events.  We greatly appreciate your help!  

NHS Families: There will be a Dual Language parent meeting Thursday, October 7th, at 5:00 pm in the Nyssa Middle School Commons. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss plans for the Dual Language program as it moves through NMS and into NHS. NHS Families, At Nyssa High School attendance is the number one reason our students become frustrated and fail classes.  We know that at times covid has made regular attendance difficult.  We need your help.  Please do all that you can to help your student attend each day.  When they are unable to attend due to covid, please have them attend by zoom.  If your student is absent from school, please contact our office at 541-372-2287.  Thank you! In the past 10 days, have they experienced: ● A fever of 100.4 or higher ● Chills ● New or worsening cough ● Shortness of breath ● Difficulty breathing ● New loss of taste or smell ● A positive Covid-19 test In the past 48 hours, have they experienced: ● Vomiting ● Diarrhea ● Undiagnosed rash ● Unexplained change in behavior/fatigue/lethargy If you answered “yes” to any of these questions please contact your child’s school and don’t send them to school.

Valley Family Mobile Vaccination Clinic is returning on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 3pm-4:30pm in the High School parking lot. I plan to try and get them here often, but with current changes, they are filling up with clinics quickly. I had hoped for a Friday date, but this will not be possible with their schedule. If someone is needing their 2nd shot and would prefer a Friday date, the Mobile Unit will be in Ontario at the Albertson's Parking Lot from 9am-3pm. Boosters are not yet available, but I will make an announcement when they are. Under current quarantine guidelines, individuals that are fully vaccinated (14 days after their 2nd vaccine or after taking 1 J&J) are not required to quarantine unless they test positive. Individuals that are 12 and over are eligible (minors having parental consent) for vaccinations through the Mobile Unit. If you have any questions, please let me know. Aundra De Witt

Nyssa High School Students, The Nyssa High School library will be open Today, Thursday, and Friday 8:00-3:00 for returning Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors to pick up the chromebooks and textbooks. Freshman and new students to NHS will be able to check out their chromebooks and textbooks on the first day of school. We will have an open house Thursday August 19 from 4:00-6:00 for families to meet their teachers. Returning students can also check out chromebooks and textbooks at that time. Our first day of school will be Monday August 23 with an 8:00am start time. Although masks will be required at school, we are super excited to start the school year in-person and with all of our sports and activities. It's going to be a great year! See you soon. Los estudiantes de Nyssa High School, La biblioteca de Nyssa High School estará abierta hoy, jueves, y viernes de 8:00-3:00 para que los del grado 10, 11, y 12 puedan recoger sus computadoras y libros.. Los estudiantes del grado 9 y los estudiantes nuevos recibirán sus computadoras el primer día de clases. También hay una casa abierta este jueves 19 de agosto de 4:00-6:00 para que los estudiantes puedan conocer a sus maestros. Los estudiantes también pueden recibir sus computadoras y libros durante este tiempo. Nuestro primer día de escuela será este lunes 23 de agosto empezando a las 8:00. Nyssa High School Athletes, Fall practices and sports will start August 16th. Sports paperwork can be picked up at the high school office and need to be returned to the office prior to starting practice. Girls Soccer 6-8pm Monday-Friday at the soccer fields Boys Soccer 4-6pm Monday - Friday at the soccer fields Cross Country 4-6pm Monday - Friday meet behind the locker rooms of the gym Volleyball 4-6pm Monday - Thursday in the main gym Football 5-6:30pm - BREAK - 7-8:30pm - Monday - Friday. Meet in the team room
