Nyssa Elementary What’s Up Bullpup? Issue 26 Week of: August 12 - 16th Upcoming Events: • August 15th Class Lists will be posted (in the morning) on the front doors of the school • August 15th Back to School (Open House) Night 5-7 pm • August 19th First Day of School (7:55 am – 3:30 pm) • August 20th Bullpup Talks with the Principals 6:00 pm News:  Open House (Back to School Night) will be held from 5-7 pm at Nyssa Elementary School on Thursday, August 15th. Please make time to attend with your student so they can meet their teacher, see their classroom, and bring any school supplies to school before the first day of school. Teachers and Administrators will be looking forward to saying welcome to everyone!  Kindergarten will be doing a soft start to the school year. Here is the schedule we have for the first week of school. More detailed information will be given at Open House. o August 19th – ½ of the parents will attend an orientation meeting with the teacher. o August 20th – ½ of the parents will attend an orientation meeting with the teacher. o August 21st – ½ of the students will attend school. o August 22nd – ½ of the students will attend school. o August 26th – All kindergarten students will attend school.  Kick-Off for the Walking Program will be September 4th. Parents please come join us on September 4th for the kick-off of the Bulldog Walking Club. This program is for 2nd through 5th Grades. Please check into the office before coming to the playground. Recess Times: Lunch Recess – 3rd 11:10-11:30, 4th 11:40-12:00, 2nd/5th 12:05-12:25 Regular Recess – 3rd/5th 1:50-2:05, 2nd 2:05-2:20, 4th 2:20-2:35  This weekly Newsletter will have more information each week about the things happening at Nyssa Elementary School. NES- Welcome Back Nyssa Families after a great summer! It is that time of the year again to start getting your child(ren) in the routines of school. Going to bed and waking up earlier. Reading with your child and practicing kindness to others. I want to express my gratitude to you parents and guardians for your efforts to support your child(ren) educational success. It is a partnership that we value and need to foster with positivity. Nyssa Elementary will be focusing on Literacy, which includes writing, for your child and dedication to measuring individual student progress at grade level for success. We do this in our Professional Learning Communities. We look forward to a great year and want you to start supporting your child in their education by talking to them about school and good student behavior. It sets them up for success! Quiero expresar mi gratitud a los padres y tutores por sus esfuerzos para apoyar el éxito educativo de sus hijos. Es una asociación que valoramos y que debemos fomentar con positividad. La escuela primaria Nyssa se centrará en la alfabetización, que incluye la escritura, para sus hijos y en la medición del progreso individual de los estudiantes a nivel de grado para lograr el éxito. Esto lo hacemos en nuestras comunidades de aprendizaje profesional. Esperamos que sea un gran año y queremos que comiencen a apoyar a sus hijos en su educación hablando con ellos sobre la escuela y el buen comportamiento de los estudiantes. ¡Esto los prepara para el éxito! Este es el feriado del Día de los Caídos.  La Asamblea de Premios de Fin de Año, para los grados 1 a 5, será el 28 de mayo y será en el gran gimnasio de MacHall. Aquí está el cronograma de la asamblea: 1:45 1 grado 2:00 2 grado 2:15 3 grado 2:30 4 grado 2:45 5 grado 3:00 La asamblea estará terminada. Para evitar interrupciones durante la asamblea, no permitiremos que ningún estudiante sea retirado durante la asamblea. Si necesita sacar a su estudiante de la escuela temprano, recójalo ANTES de la 1:45 o después de las 3:00. No permitiremos que los estudiantes sean llamados fuera de clase o de la asamblea para que los recojan temprano. A las 3:00, los padres pueden registrarse en la oficina, obtener una tarjeta de visitante e ir al salón de clases de sus hijos para retirarlos durante el día.  El jueves 30 de mayo es un día completo de clases.  Felicitaciones al equipo de danza de la escuela primaria Nyssa por su actuación final. ¡Estamos muy orgullosos del trabajo que los estudiantes y la Sra. Burbank pusieron en el equipo este año!  ¡El Sr. Pratt y yo quisiéramos tomarnos un momento para agradecer a nuestros estudiantes, sus padres, nuestros maestros y nuestra comunidad por un año increíble! ¡Tuvimos 42 personas que ofrecieron su tiempo como voluntarias en nuestra escuela este año! Estos voluntarios eran representativos de todos los diferentes niveles de grado. ¡El hecho de ofrecer su tiempo como voluntario para nuestros estudiantes es un regalo que no tiene precio y solo queríamos tomarnos un momento para agradecerle por ofrecer su tiempo como voluntario! ¡Esperamos darle la bienvenida a nuestra escuela a más personas el próximo año para que sean voluntarias! ¡Este año pasó rápidamente y el Sr. Pratt y yo también queríamos tomarnos un momento para agradecerles a todos por hacer de la Escuela Primaria Nyssa un gran lugar para estar! ¡Se necesita trabajo duro y dedicación de todos y hemos disfrutado viendo todos los cambios positivos que hemos realizado este año! ¡Esperamos más aprendizaje y diversión el próximo año! ¡Que tengas un verano excelente y seguro! Issue 25 Week of: May 27th – May 30th Upcoming Events: • May 27th No School – Memorial Day • May 28th End of the Year Awards Assembly • May 29th Field Day (K-2 8:30-10:45 am) (3-5 12:30-2:45 pm) • May 30th Last Day of School (Dismissal @ 3:30 pm) • July 30th Registration (8:00 am to 3:00 pm) • July 31st Registration (8:00 am to 8:00 pm) News:  NO SCHOOL on Monday, May 27th. This is the Memorial Day Holiday.  The End of the Year Awards Assembly, for Grades 1-5th, will be on Tuesday, May 28th and will be in the big gym at Mac Hall. Here is the schedule of the assembly: 1:45 1st Grade 2:00 2nd Grade 2:15 3rd Grade 2:30 4th Grade 2:45 5th Grade 3:00 Assembly will be finished To prevent interruptions during the assembly we will not be allowing any students to be checked out during the assembly. If you need to check your student out of school early please pick them up BEFORE 1:45 or after 3:00. We will not allow students to be called out of class or the assembly for early pick-ups. At 3:00, parents can check into the office, get a visitor’s badge and go to their child’s classroom to check them out for the day.  Thursday, May 30th is a full day of school.  Congratulations to the Nyssa Elementary Dance Team for their final performance. We are so proud of the work that the students and Mrs. Burbank put into the team this year!  Mr. Pratt and I would like to take a moment to thank our students, their parents, our teachers, and our community for an amazing year! We had 42 people volunteer their time in our school this year! These volunteers were representative of all the different grade levels. Your volunteering of your time for our students is a gift that is priceless and we just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for volunteering your time! We look forward to welcoming more people into our school next year to volunteer! This year has gone by quickly and Mr. Pratt and I also just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone for making Nyssa Elementary School a great place to be! It takes hard work and dedication from everyone and we have enjoyed looking at all the positive changes we have made this year! We look forward to more learning and fun next year!
